If you have 2+ passengers with heavy luggage or arrive after midnight, book a Private Airport Transfer ($22–$28 flat rate) or use Grab / Official Taxi on Level 1 (~350–500 THB total including tolls).
For Asok (Sukhumvit Soi 19–23), take the Airport Rail Link to Makkasan Station (22 mins, 35 THB), walk across the skybridge to MRT Phetchaburi, and ride 1 stop to MRT Sukhumvit / Asok (total 28 mins, 57 THB). For Nana, Phrom Phong, or Thong Lo with light bags, take the ARL to Phaya Thai and ride the green BTS Sukhumvit Line.
Because Khao San Road has no BTS Skytrain station right on the street, the easiest budget direct option is the S1 Airport Express Bus from Level 1 Gate 7 (60 THB / $1.75, 45–60 mins direct to Khao San Road). For the most comfortable door-to-door trip—especially after 20:00 when the S1 bus stops—take a Pre-Booked Private Car ($23) or Grab / Metered Taxi (~400–500 THB total).
Because Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) sits east of Bangkok right on the Motorway 7 toward Pattaya, you do NOT need to go into Bangkok city! Take the direct Roong Reuang Coach Bus from Level 1 Gate 8 (143 THB / $4.20, 2 hours to North Pattaya / Jomtien), or book a Direct Private Car Transfer (1,300–1,600 THB / $38–$46 per car, 85–90 mins straight to your Pattaya hotel door).
