For Amsterdam Centraal, Dam Square & Canal Belt, take the NS Train directly beneath Schiphol Plaza (14–17 minutes, €5.20—just tap your contactless debit/credit card at the yellow pole!). However, if your hotel is near Museumplein (Rijksmuseum / Van Gogh), Concertgebouw, or Leidseplein, do NOT go to Centraal Station—take the red Bus 397 (Amsterdam Airport Express) from Platform B17 (28 mins, €6.50 direct)!
🏢 Terminals & Station Layout
Single-terminal concept (Arrival Halls 1, 2, 3, and 4 all open into the central Schiphol Plaza). Escalators go straight down from Schiphol Plaza to the NS railway platforms (Platforms 1–3 for Amsterdam Centraal). Bus 397 departs right outside Schiphol Plaza at Platform B17.

Never accept rides from touts inside Schiphol Plaza—walk outside to the official "Schiphol Travel Taxi" lane or the designated Uber pickup point. Also note: buying a paper train ticket at the yellow NS machine adds a €1 surcharge; simply tap your contactless debit/credit card ("OVpay") at the yellow station poles to pay the base €5.20 fare.

NS night trains run once per hour throughout the night between Schiphol and Amsterdam Centraal, and Night Bus N97 replaces Bus 397 to Museumplein/Leidseplein.
